My name is Kjetil Smedal and I am a Norwegian artist and furniture maker.
I work with wood and other materials in interaction with it. Inspired by traditions of craftsmanship both local and global, I am searching for techniques, concepts and ideas evolving from our modern world. My work is not limited to only form or function. I try to capture the essence of making itself, the mysterious beauty that is process, transforming raw materials into timeless objects. And also I just really like to make things. Our physical ability to create and mental ability to be creative and have fun is what encourages me to work the way I do.
